Different techniques used to make RUGS

Rugs are small carpets made out of natural or artificial fiber. Rugs can be made using a machine as well as by hands. There are so many different techniques which are used to make rugs. The most famous as well as the oldest technique of making rugs is using the braiding. In braiding, the craftsmen prepare the base first. Once that is done, they start braiding the base with the “pile” which forms the exterior or the top part of the carpet. The braiding is done from the most outer part and slowly grows towards the center.

Yet another technique for making rugs is hooking. In hooking, once the base of prepared, the craftsmen start pulling the pile over it. This is not done by braiding. Instead, a latched hook keeps the pile in place over the base. Some kinds of rugs are also made by using machines. Woven rugs are produced using machines. Though any kind of rug can be produced using machines, the ones made by hand are considered to be more artistic and hence, are also more expensive. It is important to know about the things that you use. Know how your rugs are made.
