Stones as we all know are durable, strong and long lasting so are best for steps. Stone steps are the most liked and demanded product in any type of construction. Stone steps are attractive, stable and less obtrusive than other types of materials which are used for steps or stairs. These are a good way to hold soil erosion at slope as it holds soil with it.

There are different types of stone steps in market. Some of them are:

Simple stone steps- As the name suggest these are simple steps by using large stones placed at equal intervals at a slope. Mortared stone steps- These types of stone steps are found near car parks and have extra stability with the help of mortared. Pitched stone steps- These are basically large stones which are placed with large spaces and small steps are used to fill in the space. Capping stone steps- these are used as staircases and are suitable for short steep sections.

Stone steps are found in three main styles. Sawed steps- it is rectangular shaped and are often used in traffic and walk areas. Split steps- these are used in place like footpath, stairways and garden paths. Quarry steps- these give an irregular look to the ground and are generally large pieces of stones. Stones like granite, limestone, sandstone etc. are used to for making these steps.
